The Purge is a 2013 American horror-thriller film written and directed by James DeMonaco. This movie franchise is about an annual national holiday, which is called the purged, where all crimes are legal within 12 hours. There are four movies in this franchise: The Purge (2013), The Purge: Anarchy (2014), The Purge: Election Year (2016), and The First Purge (2018). We have put them in the right chronological order how they were intended to be watched.
The last part shows how the purge started. The movie starts slowly and explained the development of the purge in order to be more than just a typical ...slasher movie. The tension rises from act to act especially in the last one. It is interesting to watch and to understand the whole movie.
The first part of the series has implemented only a small part of its huge potential and is more a typical home ... invasion thriller. It can be scary, shocking and thrilling but it could be a little more of everything. The story is solid and arouses interest for the other parts. All in all we can say that it is a solid horror movie to watch.
It seems like the producers have been listening to their fans. The sequel is not a typical home invasion thriller anymore, which makes the movie more interesting and ...exciting. It can be predictable some times but the movie got everything what people were trying to look for in the first movie. In short, this movie is better than the first one and a must watch in this marathon.
Violent and thrilling third part of the series. Enjoyable to watch with an interesting new old story. The acting from Frank Grillo (who we also saw in the second part) and Elizabeth Mitchell ...was good. Both carry the movie, which makes it interesting to watch but the other actors leaves much to be desired. All in all a lively thrilling action movie.
